Research Interest
I am a licensed clinical psychologist, a Professor in the Addiction Sciences Division of the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, and a Research Member of MUSC’s National Cancer Institute designated Hollings Cancer Center. The overarching goal of my research program is to leverage digital health to significantly reduce the public health impact of mental health disorders, with a focus on tobacco use and depression among vulnerable populations (e.g., individuals with physical and mental health comorbidities, socioeconomically disadvantaged adults, rural residents). For more than 10 years I have led and contributed to NIH-funded studies focused on identifying mechanisms underlying addiction and psychopathology and utilized this knowledge to inform novel treatments.
