Cancer prevention via treatment development and clinical trials of interventions for tobacco, cannabis, and other substance use disorders
Research Interest
As a physician-scientist focused on treatment development for substance use disorders in adolescents and young adults. I have been consistently engaged in scholarly work relevant to cancer prevention and control, most notably via clinical research to advance understanding of and treatments for tobacco use disorder. I have been an active member of the Hollings Cancer Center (HCC) Cancer Prevention and Control program for many years, and during that time, I have led multiple large-scale adolescent-focused tobacco cessation pharmacotherapy trials. I have also consistently collaborated with HCC colleagues on an array of translational and clinical research endeavors to bolster clinical outcomes related to tobacco and other substance use.
