Research Interest
My primary research interests since the start of my research career have been on understanding the progression and mechanisms of cell division and survival. My PhD research was centered on proteins that mediate apoptosis, the absence of which can lead to constitutive NF-kappaB activation, inflammation, and cancer. During my post-doctoral training, I was involved with elucidation of the basic cellular mechanisms that promote cell division such as centrosome duplication. I have been involved in independent research on multiple projects related to centriole biology and our newly observed functions of CPAP protein. For the last several years, I have developed a niche in the centriole field by identifying interactions between two essential centriolar proteins, centrobin and a microcephaly protein CPAP and have recently started my independent research program on work related to these proteins.
