Investigating the mechanisms linking the dysregulation of components of the innate immune system to the induction of intestinal inflammation, alterations of the intestinal microbiota and the development of CRC in colorectal cancer.
Research Interest
I am a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Medical University of South Carolina’s (MUSC) Department of Regenerative Medicine and Cell Biology with a secondary appointment in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. I am also actively involved in the research portfolio of the Hollings Cancer Center (HCC) as member of multiple study groups including the MUSC Program for Human Microbiome Research, the Microbiome working group, the Cancer Biology and Immunology Program, and the Transdisciplinary Colon Cancer Team, which brings together faculty with different expertise with the aim to foster multidisciplinary collaboration in the fight against colon cancer.
