Novel ways to evaluate response to immunotherapy and augment the response of patients to immune directed treatment approaches
Research Interest
I joined the faculty at the Medical University of South Carolina in 2017 to serve as the lead medical oncologist within the Head & Neck (H&N) multi-disciplinary team. My expertise is in clinical investigation and during my time here I have built out a comprehensive trial portfolio of institutional, cooperative group and industry sponsored trials to make us one of the highest accruing groups in the cancer center. I am most focused on improving responses to immunotherapy and finding additional ways to intercalate immunotherapy into the standard of care to help patients with head and neck cancer beat their cancers more often and live longer. I am the Director of Research for the division of Hematology and Oncology, the Director of the Phase 1 Unit, and the co-Chair of the Data Safety Monitoring Committee (DSMC), and co-Chair of the Hollings Cancer Center Information Technology Committee. My strong experience in clinical trials of all types (investigator initiated, cooperative group and industry sponsored) has helped me oversee and offer helpful corrective action to our investigator’s studies through the DSMC.
